Rhombus: A Terrific New Craft Porter… From Bulgaria!

Rhombus - a terrific craft porter from Bulgaria!

We were sent some samples of this beer by a Bulgarian home brewer this week. It’s called Rhombus – it’s a Porter and it’s terrific.

6.2% abv, unfiltered and unpasteurised, with an ebony-black colour topped by a generous beige, lacy head, which sticks to the side of the glass.

Deep, deep roastiness on the nose, bitter chocolate and dark berry fruits are the dominant flavours. Nice (but not overbearing) kick from the alcohol makes it a great ‘winter warmer’ – and it’s as smooth as silk on the way down. What a treat!

We love to highlight good beer craftsmanship here in Bulgaria and we’d most definitely consider selling this if he could make enough of it!

Presenting Kingstone Press Pear Cider!

Kingstone Press Pear: Real pear cider from Herefordshire, England

Kingstone Press Pear: Real pear cider from Herefordshire, England

Pure Cider Pear-fection! We’ve been working on this for some time – our introduction of Kingstone Press apple cider earlier in the year had been a real hit, almost instantly becoming one of our bestsellers, but we weren’t sure how a pear variant (already popular in the UK), would work here.

After talking to some of you over the Summer however – and realising the need for a real alternative to what was being offered at present, we decided to go ahead and introduce delicious Kingstone Press Pear real pear cider to Bulgaria.

Less sweet than the commercial alcoholic pear drinks available here at present, Kingstone Press Pear is a delicious, crisp, medium bodied cider made in the traditional way – just pear juice and a little yeast to help the slow, traditional ‘cold-fermentation’ process.

The result is delicious – and we’re certain you’ll think so too. Available initially in the shop and website only, we’re working hard to get Kingstone Press Pear introduced into our other outlets too – and as soon as we do we’ll let you know. In the meantime – why not order a bottle or two to try it for yourself? We think you’ll find it just Pear-fect!

Cobra Indian Beer – Delicious, Refreshing.. and Here in Bulgaria!

The authentic beer taste of India - now available in Bulgaria!

The authentic beer taste of India - now available in Bulgaria!

An exciting and exotic new taste for Bulgaria

We’re pleased to announce that we have secured a deal to bring Cobra, the favourite curry-house beverage of millions of British customers, here to Bulgaria – and it’s available from today!!

This delightful high-quality lager beer was introduced to Britain by Lord Karan Bilimoria in 1989. He had the notion that Britain deserved a better, smoother, less gassy lager (he wasn’t wrong at the time, either – the ’70s and ’80s represented a particular low point for British mass-market beer – and that’s saying something). A beer that was not only smoother, but one which went well with food, particularly spicy Eastern flavours; and which had the potential to appeal to both ale and lager drinkers alike. Continue reading
